Most students in Malaysia don’t lose SAT points on test day. They lose them in the weeks before. The name on the College Board account doesn’t match the passport. The Bluebook app was never set up on the laptop. Or the test date was booked before the student had sat a single timed practice paper.
This guide covers the practical side of the Digital SAT for students in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Johor. You’ll find the 2026–27 test dates and deadlines, what you’ll actually pay in US dollars, how to register, and where you can sit the exam.
Further down, we explain how ACE Education helps students prepare before they spend that registration fee. The SAT is cheapest when you only take it as many times as you planned to.
Official Digital SAT Malaysia Test Dates & Registration Deadlines
Malaysia follows the same SAT calendar as the US. College Board runs the weekend SAT on one Saturday in most months, and every date below is open to international students.
| Test date (Saturday) | Regular registration deadline | Late registration deadline |
|---|---|---|
| 7 November 2026 | 23 October 2026 | 27 October 2026 |
| 5 December 2026 | 20 November 2026 | 24 November 2026 |
| 6 March 2027 | 19 February 2027 | 23 February 2027 |
| 1 May 2027 | 16 April 2027 | 20 April 2027 |
| 5 June 2027 | 21 May 2027 | 25 May 2027 |
A few things catch Malaysian students out every season:
- Deadlines run on US Eastern Time. They close at 11:59 p.m. ET, which is already the next day in Malaysia, around midday. Don’t leave it to the last evening.
- The late deadline is also the change deadline. After it passes, you can’t switch centres or cancel at the normal fee.
- Borrowing a device takes longer. If you need College Board to lend you a laptop, register and request it at least 30 days before test day.
Which date suits you? If you’re applying to US universities for regular decision (deadlines around 1 January), November is a sensible last attempt. December scores can arrive close to those deadlines. IGCSE and Year 11 students planning ahead will usually find March, May or June 2027 a calmer fit around school exams.
Looking further ahead, College Board has announced anticipated dates for 2027–28: 6 November and 4 December 2027, then 4 March, 6 May and 3 June 2028.

Digital SAT Exam Fees for Malaysian Students
The Digital SAT costs USD 111 in Malaysia if you register on time. That’s the USD 68 registration fee plus a USD 43 international fee that every student outside the US pays.
The extra charges are where costs creep up:
| Item | Fee (USD) | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Registration fee | 68 | Every test |
| International fee | 43 | Every test taken outside the US |
| Late registration | 38 | Registering after the regular deadline |
| Test centre fee | 24 | Only at certain centres that charge it |
| Change test centre | 34 | Switching centres before the change deadline |
| Cancel registration | 34 | Cancelling by the change deadline |
| Late cancellation | 44 | Cancelling after the change deadline |
| Extra score report | 15 each | After your 4 free reports, or reports ordered more than 9 days after the test |
So a student who registers late at a centre that adds its own fee pays USD 173 for one sitting. Each retake costs the full amount again.
You pay by card in US dollars, so your bank may add a foreign transaction charge on top. Check the exchange rate on the day you pay rather than relying on an old ringgit figure.
Step-by-Step College Board Registration & Bluebook App Setup
Registration takes about 20 minutes if you have everything ready. Here’s the order that works:
- Create your College Board account. Sign up at College Board’s SAT registration page. Use your legal name exactly as it appears on the ID you’ll bring on test day, usually your passport. A missing middle name or a swapped surname can get you turned away at the door.
- Choose your date and centre. Pick a test date, then search for nearby centres with open seats. Popular Klang Valley centres fill up weeks before the deadline.
- Upload your photo. It needs to be a clear, recent headshot that meets College Board’s photo rules. The staff compare it with your face and your ID on the day.
- Pay the fee. Pay online by card and save the confirmation email.
- Install Bluebook and complete exam setup. Download the Bluebook app on the device you’ll test with (Windows laptop, Mac or iPad). Then complete exam setup in the days before the test. This is what generates your admission ticket. No admission ticket, no test.
About your device. You can’t take the Digital SAT on a phone. If you don’t have a suitable laptop or iPad, you can request to borrow one from College Board, but do it at least 30 days before test day. On the day, bring the device fully charged plus its charger, your ID, your admission ticket and a pen or pencil for rough work.
If your school-issued laptop blocks app installs, ask your IT department early. This is one of the most common last-minute problems we see.
Approved SAT Test Centres in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor & Penang vs. Choosing Your Best Test Window
Most Digital SAT centres in Malaysia are international schools and private colleges. The list changes from one test date to the next, so treat the names below as a starting point.
| Region | Centres that have hosted the SAT | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Kuala Lumpur & Selangor | INTI International College Subang, Mont’Kiara International School, Oasis International School KL, Epsom College, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, Eshia & Associates | Most seats, but also the fastest to fill. Easy to reach from Mont Kiara and Subang Jaya. |
| Penang | Dalat International School | Closest option for northern students. Limited seats per sitting. |
| Johor | Raffles American School, Shattuck-St. Mary’s Forest City International School | Handy for Johor Bahru and Iskandar families. |
| Pahang | International School Kuantan | East coast option. Check it’s running your date. |
Before you book, confirm real-time seat availability on College Board’s SAT Test Centre Search. Also check whether your chosen centre adds the USD 24 test centre fee.
Picking the centre is easy. Picking the window is what saves money.
Here’s the mistake we see most often. A student books the nearest date “just to see how it goes”, sits the test underprepared, then books again. That’s another USD 111 or more, plus another Saturday and another round of nerves.
A better way to plan:
| Approach | What usually happens | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| Book first, prepare later | Rushed prep, a first score below target, a retake within months | USD 222+ for two sittings |
| Diagnostic first, then book about 3 months out | A realistic target, a study plan built around weak areas, one or two planned sittings | USD 111 per planned sitting |
Three months gives most students enough time to work through a full prep cycle: a diagnostic test, focused lessons and at least three timed mock exams in Bluebook format. It also leaves room to register before the regular deadline, so you avoid the USD 38 late fee.
Don’t Waste USD 111 on an Unprepared Attempt: Take ACE Education’s Diagnostic DSAT First
Before you pick a date, find out where you actually stand. Every SAT programme at ACE Education starts with a diagnostic Digital SAT, and it’s the single most useful thing you can do before registering.
The diagnostic is a full-length, timed practice test in the same adaptive format as the real exam. It covers both sections: Reading and Writing, and Math. You sit it under test conditions, either at our centre or online.
Afterwards, one of our SAT tutors goes through the results with you, and with your parents if you’d like. You’ll come away knowing:
- Your current estimated score out of 1600, split by section
- Which question types cost you the most marks, such as grammar conventions, data analysis or advanced algebra
- Whether timing or content is the bigger problem
- A realistic target score for your university list
- Which test date gives you enough time to reach that target
That last point matters most. Some students find they’re already close and can book the next available date. Others realise they need a full term of preparation. Either way, you book the SAT with a plan instead of a guess.
Book your diagnostic DSAT or message us on WhatsApp to arrange a slot this week.
How ACE Education’s 1-on-1 Digital SAT Prep in Mont Kiara, Subang Jaya & Online Works
Our SAT preparation is built around one student at a time. There’s no fixed syllabus everyone has to sit through. Here’s what the process looks like:
- Diagnostic and goal setting. We start with the diagnostic DSAT above and a short chat about your target universities, scholarship plans and school timetable.
- A custom study roadmap. Your tutor maps out week-by-week topics, focusing first on the areas that will lift your score fastest.
- Weekly lessons. Sessions cover the skills the SAT tests: reading dense passages, grammar and sentence structure, algebra, advanced maths, data analysis and geometry. Strategy is taught alongside content, including pacing, smart guessing and how the adaptive second module works.
- Bluebook-style mock tests. You sit full timed mocks in a digital format that mirrors the real exam, so test day doesn’t feel unfamiliar. Each mock is reviewed question by question.
- Progress reports. Parents get regular updates on scores, attendance and what’s coming next.
- Test-week preparation. In the final week, we help you check your Bluebook setup and admission ticket, run a last mock, and go over a calm plan for test morning.
Where and when lessons happen
- Mont Kiara centre: convenient for students at international schools around Mont Kiara, Desa ParkCity and Sri Hartamas
- Subang Jaya centre (USJ 10): easy for families in Subang, Puchong, Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam
- Online: live 1-on-1 lessons for students anywhere in Malaysia or abroad
- At home: in-home tutoring is available in selected areas
Lessons run on weekdays, evenings and weekends, so SAT prep can fit around IGCSE, IB or A-Level coursework. Many of our students also study IGCSE or IBDP subjects with us, and we keep both plans aligned so nothing clashes before exams.
SAT Prep Packages: Long-Term Coaching vs. 4-Week Intensive Crash Courses
We offer two main routes. The diagnostic usually makes the choice obvious.
| Long-term coaching | 4-week intensive crash course | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | First-time SAT students, or anyone more than 150 points below target | Students already near their target, or retakers fixing specific weak spots |
| Length | Typically 3 to 6 months | About 4 weeks before your test date |
| Lesson pattern | 1 to 2 sessions a week | 3 to 5 sessions a week |
| Focus | Building content skills from the ground up, then strategy | Strategy, timing and the question types you keep missing |
| Mock tests | Regular full mocks across the programme | A full mock most weeks |
| When to start | Before you register for a date | After registering, once the date is fixed |
Both options are available as 1-on-1 or small-group lessons, at our centres, online or at home. Fees depend on the number of hours and the format you choose. You can see our general rates on the pricing page, or ask us for a quote after your diagnostic.
Not sure which one fits? Start with long-term coaching if you’ve never seen an SAT paper before. Choose the intensive if you’ve sat the test once and know exactly what went wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does the SAT cost in Malaysia?
The standard fee is USD 111: a USD 68 registration fee plus a USD 43 international fee. Late registration adds USD 38, and some centres charge an extra USD 24.
Is the SAT in Malaysia fully digital?
Yes. The SAT is now taken only in digital form on the Bluebook app, using a laptop or iPad. Paper tests are no longer offered for the weekend SAT.
When is the next SAT date in Malaysia?
The remaining 2026–27 dates are 7 November and 5 December 2026, then 6 March, 1 May and 5 June 2027. Each has a regular deadline about two weeks before test day.
How many times can I take the SAT?
There’s no fixed limit for the weekend SAT. Most students sit it two or three times, and many universities consider your highest score. Each attempt costs the full fee again, so planned attempts work out cheaper than repeat ones.
Can ACE Education register me for the SAT?
You register and pay College Board yourself, because the account has to be in the student’s name. We’ll guide you through every step during your consultation, from account setup to Bluebook installation.
How long should I prepare for the Digital SAT?
Most students need about three months of steady preparation. If your diagnostic score is far from your target, plan for four to six months. Strong students fine-tuning a few areas can often manage with a 4-week intensive.
Ready to Plan Your SAT the Smart Way?
The Digital SAT isn’t a test you should sit just to see what happens. Check the dates, budget for the real cost, and get your registration details right. Most importantly, know your starting score before you book. Book a diagnostic DSAT and trial session with ACE Education and leave with a clear test date, a study plan and one less thing to worry about.
